For the first two years of his foray into homebrewing, Alex lived in a small apartment with little storage space and no yard. Given these restrictions, he focused on simplifying his process and brewing the best beers possible with malt extract. Today, Alex has a full garage dedicated to brewing, but he still advocates for the use of extract when making beer.
Alex currently serves as Education Chair on the Oregon Brew Crew board and teaches a BJCP class. When he's not geeking out about beer, Alex teaches public speaking and coaches the speech and debate team at Lower Columbia College.
